Incident Report from the Madison Police Department:

Incident Type: Drug Investigation

Incident Date: 03/24/2013 - 8:10 PM

Address: 1900 Northport Drive

Arrested: Leon M. Lane, 46-year-old male of Madison, WI
CHARGES: Possession of Heroin, Resisting/Obstructing A Police Officer, Operating An Unregistered Vehicle & Operating While Revoked

Details: The Madison Police Department's North Community Policing Team has been extremely active, and making a concerted effort to be involved in drug interdiction assignments in and around the City of Madison. March 23rd was no different, and officers noted some suspicious behavior near the 3100 block of North Sherman Ave. A vehicle, driven by Leon Lane, was moving in and around the area with no lights on, and that seemed somewhat odd.

Officers stopped the vehicle, and Lane stated he had no driver's license or identification to prove his identity. The MPD Sergeant noticed Lane attempting to conceal his left hand, and when this was brought to Lane's attention, he was asked to step out of the car. Lane refused, and struggled with police as he continued to grab at an item inside the vehicle. Police continued to stress to Lane to stop resisting, and he was eventually taken into custody. Officers located Heroin, and Lane was conveyed to the Dane County Jail.
