UPDATE: Juvenile Cited After Wisconsin River Search

The investigation involving the clothes found in the Wisconsin River on March 28, 2013 has been completed.

On Friday, March 29 the Wisconsin Dells Police Department received a tip from the public. The tip led to a local juvenile who admitted to owning the clothes. The juvenile admitted to falling into the water and having to disrobe in an effort to climb from the river to safety.

The juvenile was cited for underage consumption of alcohol and disorderly conduct. Alcohol was believed to be a factor.

Press Release from the Wisconsin Dells Police Department:

On Thursday morning, March 28, 2013, at approximately 1:40 a.m. the Wisconsin Dells police department received a call from a hotel guest of the Santorini Village Hotel, located in the 1000 block of River Road. The reporting person stated they heard people outside indicated that someone was in the Wisconsin River.

Wisconsin Dells Officers and the Killbourn Fire Department's rescue boat responded to the area and began a search. During the search, several clothing items were located in the water near the River Walk Pub. No identification was found and it is undetermined at this time if someone was actually in the water.

The clothing found is described as:

Black and white Eckounltd brand jacket, Roadblock brand denim pants, navy and white Nike shorts, Blue and black basketball shoes.

The Columbia County Sheriff's department and their dive team were called and a subsequent search of the water was conducted. No additional evidence was recovered.

At this time, Wisconsin Dells Police are requesting assistance from the public to help identify the owner of the clothing and any information pertaining to this incident. If you have any information, please contact the Wisconsin Dells Police Department at (608) 253-1611.
