A proposed new hotel is in the works for downtown Madison. The hotel in question would be built on Judge Doyle Square, near Monona Terrace.
Monday, in public hearing consultants shared results from an updated hotel study. Much of it centered around Monona Terrace. Inside the study, it found the convention center is a major asset to the city, and in order to see it grow another hotel is needed.
The proposed hotel would have 400 to 500 rooms. Currently, plans remain in the early stages. There's still no final word on if the project will be approved.
