UPDATE: Woman Dead In Janesville

UPDATED Tuesday, October 23, 2012 --- 4:00 p.m.

Press Release from the Janesville Police Department:

At 9:03 a.m. the Rock County Sheriff’s Department was attempting to serve civil process paper work at 426 N. Walnut St. As a deputy approached the residence, a gunshot was heard coming from the residence.

The Janesville Police Department Swat Team responded to the scene.

A 52 year old female was found deceased inside the residence. There were no other people located in the house. An autopsy is scheduled for October 24, 2012 at 8:30 a.m.

According to the Janesville Gazette, one person is dead after a report of a shot fire on Janesville's west side.

The newspaper is citing an interview WCLO Radio conducted with Deputy Chief John Olsen.

Olsen told the radio station civil papers were being served at a home in the 400 block of North Walnut Street. Only one person was in the home at the time.

More information is expected to be released by the Janesville Police Department.
