Report: Wis. Police Officer Stopped in DUI patrol

Posted Monday, January 28, 2013 --- 4:27 p.m.

RACINE, Wis. (AP) -- A Racine police officer is on administrative duty after he was stopped by the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department, reportedly for driving under the influence.

The sheriff's office says the 40-year-old Racine police officer was netted in a weekend DUI patrol along with 25 other suspected drunken driving offenders.

The officer was issued a citation for his first drunken driving offense. According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department, the officer registered a blood-alcohol content of 0.16 percent, twice Wisconsin's legal limit of 0.08 percent.

Racine police tell The Journal Times (http://bit.ly/14psK6w) the officer was taken off active patrol and placed on administrative duties until Racine police can confirm further details.

The officer's name was not released.
