From the Madison Fire Department:

The Madison Fire Department’s Lake Rescue Team rescued a woman from Lake Mendota late Friday night.

The Maple Bluff Fire Department and City of Madison Fire Department were called to Burrows Park at 11:14 p.m. for a possible drowning.

Firefighters arrived at the park nine minutes later and met with a person who called 911.

Based on the information provided by this witness, rescuers on land relayed directions to the rescue boat on the water. The Lake Rescue Team quickly located the woman about 100 yards from shore and pulled her out of the water.

The woman was brought to the shore and transported by ambulance to Meriter Hospital with non life threatening injuries.
