WEST BEND, Wis. (AP) -- A 20-year-old Richfield man has been convicted in the strangulation death of a high school classmate.
It took a Washington County jury less than four hours to convict Daniel Bartelt of first-degree intentional homicide in the death of 19-year-old Jessie Blodgett, of Hartford. He faces a maximum of life in prison when he's sentenced Oct. 14
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that Blodgett was an actress, music teacher and college student who had attended a cast party for "Fiddler on the Roof" the night before she was killed in her home in July 2013.
Bartelt had been her classmate at Hartford Union High School and had dated Blodgett at one point.
Defense attorney Gary Schmaus says he's disappointed with the verdict and they'll decide whether to appeal after sentencing.
