Rivard Told He's Always Welcome in GOP Caucus

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The Republican majority leader of the state Assembly says a fellow GOP lawmaker who lost re-election after recounting advice his father had given him that "some girls rape easy" is always welcome in the Republican caucus.

Rep. Roger Rivard of Rice Lake gave a tearful farewell to his Republican colleagues on Tuesday.

Rivard says the last few weeks since his comment was widely reported have been "pretty rough," but he looks forward to traveling the country with his wife. He says, "It can't get any worse than it is right now."

Assembly Majority Leader Scott Suder introduced Rivard by calling him a class act, dear friend and true citizen legislator. He says he was proud to serve with Rivard and welcomed him to visit any time.

Look, regardless of how you slice-n-dice his comment, the key point is that there are some "things" that should never be publicly stated. Any public figure who violates this basic "law" is guaranteed to fry in hell.

anonymous, After hearing the story, I think that the politician was being told to be careful, that "some girls rape easy", meaning be careful, you could be accused of something. I think you better read my previous comment again. You are saying I should tell my boys to rape?(instill those beliefs) You twisted my comments around. I guess no one you know has ever had to deal with a teen pregnancy. I talk to them openly about sex and warn them of being trapped. Women can and will get pregnant on purpose, just as they will cry rape for whatever reason, even if it is not true. Many young men have to live their lives as a sex offender because angry parents just can't believe their little Susie could possibly be having sex. Maybe you have lived a sheltered life in rural Wisconsin, but this does happen in real life. "Some girls rape easy" = be careful in my eyes.

mwow you are crazy and I hope you don't instill those beliefs in your sons! You might think different if you had a daughter. Maybe some girls CRY rape (and I think this is the exception rather than a rule) but that is different than some girls rape easy. Your comment is a slap in the face to all the girls and women that have been raped and that's why it is so underreported. WIBadger...I totally agree with you. It's the good old boys club!

I gotta say I can agree with his comment. As the mother of 3 sons I have repeatedly told them that once a girl says no, she means no, no matter how far along the act is. Girls / women will cry rape. Sorry, that is the truth. So "some girls rape easy" is a true comment sometimes. They change their mind after the act is done and out of fear of pregnancy or fear of their parents finding out they call it rape, even though it started out as consensual.

Rivard should have been told that he is NOT welcomed in GOP caucus. Idiots such as Rivard are harmful to the GOP; why would anyone want to "welcome" him? Geez, and repubs wonder why they are losing votes!
