Authorities are looking for the driver who fled the scene of a crash in Rock County.
The Rock County Sheriff's Department says it happened Sunday at 2:53 a.m. Deputies from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single vehicle rollover crash that injured three people on E. County Highway O near the intersection of I-90. It was reported that two of the occupants were ejected. Officers from the City of Janesville, Troopers from the Wisconsin State Patrol, and Fire/EMS from the City of Janesville also responded and assisted in the investigation.
Upon arrival one subject was found unresponsive in the roadway, one subject was found just outside the vehicle, and a third still inside the vehicle. The driver fled the scene prior to Emergency Personnel’s arrival. The injured occupants were all under the age of 18, with one of them in critical condition and the others being treated and released.
The investigation at the scene showed that the vehicle involved was a 2000 Plymouth Neon, and that it was traveling westbound on E. County Highway O approaching the I-90 overpass. The Neon left the roadway, over-corrected and rolled over once onto the roadway, ejecting one of the rear passengers, before it landed upright.
A person of interest, as being the driver, is an Emeterio Acosta, 23, of Janesville. Acosta is wanted for questioning reference this crash. If anyone knows the whereabouts or has had contact with Acosta should contact the Sheriff’s Office by calling the Non-Emergency number (608) 757-2244.
The roadway was closed for about four hours while the crash was being investigated. Alcohol appears to have been a contributing factor in this crash.
