In support of their powerhouse, home state teams, Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) and Congressman Peter DeFazio (D-OR) have made a friendly wager on the outcome of the January 2, 2012 Rose Bowl game between the Big 10 Champion University of Wisconsin Badgers and the Pac-12 Champion University of Oregon Ducks.
If the Ducks win, Baldwin will send DeFazio a taste of Wisconsin in a gift package that includes some of Wisconsin’s finest craft beers from the New Glarus and Stevens Point Breweries, Madison’s Ale Asylum and Middleton’s Capital Brewery, mouth-watering Usinger brats from Milwaukee, and a selection of award-winning Green County cheeses.
If the Badgers win, DeFazio will send Baldwin a taste of Oregon gift package that includes a sampling of Oregon’s vibrant craft beers including Ninkasi Brewery. The package will also include delicious wild-caught Pacific Salmon, and an assortment of locally produced cheeses including artisan cheese from Lowell’s Fern’s Edge Goat Dairy.
“Our Big Ten Champion Badgers will surely make Ducks’ feathers fly as Wisconsin wins its fourth Rose Bowl victory,” Baldwin said with confidence. “I hope Congressman DeFazio enjoys our terrific brats, cheeses, and beers, but saves some room for a piece of humble pie,” she joked. “I can’t wait to grill up some of that delicious Oregon salmon,” Baldwin added.
“I’m already making preparations for an Oregon Rose Bowl Victory party, and I plan to enjoy the tasty beer, brats, and cheeses that Congresswoman Baldwin will be sending my way,” said DeFazio. “But I may have to drink the appropriately named Total Domination IPA from Oregon’s Ninkasi Brewery to go with the taste of Wisconsin package. Go Ducks!”
