A police escort and dozens of family, friends and balloons are helping wish well a local 7-year-old heading to out of town for eight weeks of treatment.

Ella Hembrook, from Stoughton, is fighting a brain tumor and departing for Boston soon.

"We went through a whole year of two brain surgeries," said her father Kevin Hembrook. "She knows what's going on, she knows why we're going up to Boston. Unfortunately it's not a vacation but we're going to do our best to move on forward."

Kevin and the rest of the family had no idea they would be escorted down Main St. to cheering supporters.

"I think it's like really cool and everybody is really nice," said Ella.

"She's going through more than most people ever have to go through," said Katie Bridgwater, who planned the celebration. "If they can do some fun stuff while they are out there and keep her comfortable, being away for eight straight weeks is a lot."
