A Boy Scout leader from Illinois has now been charged with sexually assaulting a scout at Camp Freeland Leslie in Marquette County.
Thursday, Jeffrey L. Borneman, 54, was charged with 2nd Degree Sexual Assault of Child.
According to a criminal complaint obtained by the Chicago Tribune, the Scout alleged he was suffering from a migraine headache and he had gone to sleep early in his tent, but later awoke to find Borneman performing a sex act on him.
Borneman denied the allegation, according to the complaint.
Investigators said they matched Borneman’s DNA to a sample taken from the youth, the complaint says.
The assault is alleged to have taken place on July 5 at a Boy Scout facility near Oxford.
The Chicago Tribune said Borneman was “immediately removed from Scouting” and banned from any future activities when the allegations came to light.
Borneman is free on bond and was ordered to have no unsupervised contact with children under 16.
