From the Green County Sheriff's Office:
At 1:52 p.m.(September 23, 2012), Deputies responded to a multiple vehicle crash on STH 11 and Mt. Hope Rd, Township of Spring Grove.
Also responding was Brodhead PD, EMS, FIRE, Monroe EMS, Orfordville EMS, Juda FIRE, Medflight, and Wisconsin State Patrol.
A vehicle (Unit #1) operated by John G Kohn, 88, of Freeport, IL was east bound on STH 11 attempting to turn into a business in the W900 Block of STH 11.
A vehicle (Unit #2) operated by Amanda M. Swedlund 24, Juda, WI rear-ended Kohn’s vehicle pushing it into Unit #1 causing it to enter west bound lane of travel striking rear of a vehicle (Unit #3) driven George L. Burris 62, of Shullsburg, WI.
Passenger in Unit #1 was Joann K. Kohn, 80, Freeport, IL. All subjects in Unit #1 were wearing seatbelts at time of the crash and were extricated from the vehicle by BHFD. Airbags deployed, vehicle sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene. John and Joann Kohn were transported to Janesville Mercy Hospital due to injuries.
Unit #2 contained 7 occupants; all subjects were wearing seatbelts and proper child restraints at time of the crash. Airbags did deploy in this unit and it sustained severe damage.
Driver: Amanda M. Swedlund, 24, Juda, was injured and transported to Monroe Clinic Hospital.
Passenger; Christopher J. Swedlund, 25, Juda, injured & transported to Monroe Clinic Hospital.
Passenger: Zachary J. Pierce, 2 months old, Forest Grove, MT was not injured.
Passenger; Jessica E. Pepper, 25, Forest Grove, MT injured/transported to Monroe Clinic Hospital.
Passenger; Briliey L. Swedlund, 6, of Juda, was injured/transported to Monroe Clinic Hospital.
Passenger: Brendon A. Pepper, 6, Forest Grove, MT, injured/ transported to Monroe Clinic Hospital.
Passenger, Mason J. Swedlund, 2, Juda, WI was not injured.
Unit #3 contained two occupants, seatbelts worn and no airbags were deployed. Vehicle sustained moderate damage and was driven from the scene. Driver, George L. Burris, 62, Schullsburg, WI was not injured. Passenger, Wendy L. Burris, 63, Schullsburg, WI was not injured.
Amanda Swedlund was issued citation for Inattentive Driving and released pending court.
The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Department and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
