Shoplifter Arrested After Threatening to Cut Mall Security Officers

Incident Type: Weapons Violation

Incident Date: 03/07/2013 - 12:35 PM

Address: West Towne Mall (Sears)

Arrested: Johnnie J. Pigram Jr., age 38, no permanent address
Mr. Pigram was arrested for Retail Theft While Armed.

Victim: Male, age 38
Male, age 29
Victims are loss prevention officers at Sears.

Details: Madison Police were called to the West Towne Mall parking lot Thursday afternoon after loss prevention officers from Sears said a shoplifting suspect threatened them with a knife. They had followed him outside the store after he stole a watch.

The employees demanded merchandise be turned over, and it was at this time they saw the suspect was armed. The shoplifter threatened to "slice" security personnel. MPD officers later determined the suspect did not have a knife but a pair of scissors.
