Madison, WI. January 10, 2013 – At approximately 5:10 pm, on Wednesday, January 9th, Dane County Sheriff’s Marine and Trail deputies responded to Lake Farm Park in the City of Madison for a snowmobile crash.
The operator, Samuel S. Dimaggio, age 53 of Fitchburg, was snowmobiling on Lake Waubesa with a passenger, Lisa M. Rowland, age 48 of Deforest. Dimaggio made a sudden turn causing himself and Rowland to be thrown from the snowmobile. They were not wearing helmets and both sustained head injuries. After being transported to St. Mary’s Hospital, Dimaggio was admitted, and Rowland was treated and released.
Dimaggio was arrested for Operating a Snowmobile While Intoxicated-Causing Injury.

Information from the Madison Fire Department:
City of Madison Fire Department Ladder #6 Crew and Scuba Team members removed two people from the ice on Lake Waubesa after their snowmobile tipped over.
At 5:10 pm, Scuba Team members drove the ARGO vehicle on the ice to the patients’ location where they assisted Ladder 6 with patient care and immobilization. They were transported to St. Mary’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The incident occurred about 300 yards from shore.
All Dane County snowmobile trails have been closed since Monday because of the warm temperatures.
