Store Employees Fight and Detain Shoplifter; Another Suspect at Large

Suspect(s): Male, age 26, Madison
Suspect is at large.

Arrested: Darriell L. Banks, age 21, Madison
Mr. Banks was arrested for Strangulation, Battery and Retail Theft.

Victim: Male, age 30
Male, age 18
Both victims are loss prevention officers for West Towne's Boston Store.

Details: One loss prevention officer was punched in the face; another was grabbed by the throat, as a violent retail theft suspect battled with the two Boston Store employees in the West Towne Mall parking lot Wednesday evening.

The victims had pursued two suspects after they stole more than $1,500 worth of clothing. One shoplifter dropped merchandise he was carrying and ran off. Loss prevention officers chased down his partner in crime. Following the parking lot fight, the victims took the suspect down, and held him down, until police arrived. One suffered a black and blue lip, the other was finding it hard to swallow and his voice was hoarse. The second suspect is at large.
