UPDATE: Storm damages trees, homes in Janesville

UPDATED Monday, May 12, 2014 --- 8:15 p.m.

Rock County Emergency Management says around a dozen trees have been reported down after Monday's storm.

In the backyard of a house on the corner of Central and Johnson, homeowners say they heard a loud crack, and came outside to find part of their tree had broken off.

"We were really nervous because we thought it was going to hit the house. But it didn't, it hit the road instead," said Ellen Zaehring.

Crews from Alliant Energy had to be called to fix the powerline that was also knocked down when the branch fell.

Over on Lincoln Street, a tree fell on the roof of a home. Rock Co. authorities say the damage isn't major.
