Incident Report from the Baraboo Fire Department

Baraboo, WI, March 30, 2012: On March 30, 2013 at approximately 12:06 p.m. Baraboo Fire, Baraboo Ambulance and Baraboo Police were dispatched to the 613 2nd Avenue for a report of smoke coming from the roofline of the house.
Upon arrival of the first fire department unit, there was light to moderate smoke showing from the roof line of the single story single family dwelling.
The first Engine arrived with six personnel. Fire personnel made entry into the home started a search for occupants and started extinguishment of the fire. The main body of fire was extinguished but there was extensive overhaul work that needed to be done for to ensure the fire was completely out.
Additional fir personnel arrived on an Aerial Ladder, another Engine and Heavy Squad.
There was extensive damage to the living room and bedroom with significant heat and smoke damage to the remaining interior of the home.
There were no injuries to civilians or fire personnel.
The home is owned by Katherine Willger. She, her family and the family dog were away at relatives when the fire occurred. They are displaced by the fire and will be staying with relatives.
The fire originated in the living room of the home with the exact cause still under investigation by the Baraboo Fire and Police Departments. The cause of the fire is not suspicious.
Sauk City Fire Department responded to the Baraboo Fire Station to provide backfill while Baraboo personnel and apparatus were busy with this fire.
The Baraboo Fire Department was further assisted at the scene by the Baraboo Police Department, Baraboo District Ambulance Service and Sauk County Sheriff’s Department.
Baraboo Fire Department wants to remind all citizens to have working smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms.
