On 3/23/2013 at 3:25 a.m. Janesville Police Officers were sent to the area of Park Ave. and W. Racine St. after a citizen reported seeing a vehicle operating in the area with a missing tire. As officers checked the area, a parked trailer attached to a truck was found that was struck and damaged by a vehicle and a tire was left at the scene, most likely from the suspect vehicle. Officer Chad Woodman followed scratch marks in the pavement to an address on Johnson St., where the suspect vehicle was located.
Officers made contact at the residence, including the vehicles owner, Brett Weidmer. Wiedmer denied being involved in the accident, but information developed through the course of the investigation placed Wiedmer behind the wheel of the vehicle at the time of the accident. He appeared to be impaired and Wiedmer had three prior OWI convictions on his driving record. His driver’s license was currently valid. Wiedmer refused to do field sobriety tests. A blood sample was taken and the results of that test are still pending. Wiedmer remains in custody at the Rock County Jail pending his court appearance.
