Madison Police say a suspected drunken driver nearly pinned an officer between a van and a parked vehicle.
Police responded to the Metro Market on Cottage Grove Rd. Friday evening for a hit-and-run crash. A witness said a driver hit a parked car with his van and drove away.
As police were investigating, the suspect driver returned to the parking lot. Officers told the driver to put his van in park and turn off the engine. Instead, he put it in reverse and nearly pinned one officer between his van and another parked car.
At that point, the driver did stop. Officers arrested 46-year-old Sebastian Taylor for second degree reckless endangerment, hit and run, operating while revoked and operating while intoxicated-3rd offense.
Police say a woman was also in Taylor's van. She told officers they had come to buy dog food, but took off following the crash. They then realized they had forgotten the dog food and returned to buy it, not knowing police had been called.
