Details: The MPD tracked down and arrested 4 teens Tuesday afternoon and evening after a 56-year old Madison man was attacked twice: once on a Madison Metro bus and again when he got off at his stop.

The victim said some of the teens put legs out to stop him from exiting the bus as he tried to get out on N. Sherman Ave. While he was being held up, one of the teens tried to take his wallet out of his back pocket. He responded by slapping the teen. He was then attacked by a second suspect, who punched the victim multiple times in the head and upper torso as he moved for an exit door. He fled out of the front of the bus.

The suspects departed out of the back door. They chased the victim down. Two suspects punched the man while a third tripped him. He was then kicked in the back after landing on the ground.

The bus driver assisted responding officers by providing good descriptions of the teens. Two were found near Elka Lane and Packers Ave., and arrested. Officers viewed surveillance video and identified two more suspects. They knew their names because of past prior contacts with the teens. Both were arrested Tuesday night at their homes. A 5th teen has not yet been identified.

This is so disgusting. I took the bus 5 days a week until I retired, now I have to take it sometimes. Things started getting bad in 2006 when I retired and there were times I was quite apprehensive with the teens who would board and act up. I witnessed a couple serious incidents back then when the police were called. I don't like taking the bus now, but sometimes I must. I see things now that make me shudder. I am so sorry that gentleman had to endure such "evil", as I believe it goes beyond bullying. I feel like Madison is beginning to look like Milwaukee, and I sure don't want that to happen.
