From the Dane County Sheriff's Office:
At approximately 6:15 pm (on Friday, June 8), Dane County Sheriff’s Office deputies and officers from Verona and Belleville Police Departments along with EMS personnel from Belleville, Fitchrona, Brooklyn, McFarland and U.W. Med Flight responded to a three-vehicle crash on USH 69 at Gehin Drive in the Town of Montrose.
The preliminary investigation indicates a 2000 Chevrolet 3500 pickup truck, driven by a 35 year-old male, from Belleville, was stopped northbound on STH 69 waiting to turn left onto Gehin Drive when he was struck from behind by a 1992 Chevrolet Lumina 4 door, which was being driven by a 24 year-old male, from Madison.
As a result of the impact, the pickup entered the southbound lane of traffic where it was sideswiped by a 2001 Chrysler Town and Country mini van, driven by a 33 year-old female, from Oregon.
The driver of the pickup was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the Lumina was transported by Med Flight to U.W. Hospital with life threatening injuries.
The driver of the mini van and her passengers were not injured as a result of the crash.
USH 14 between Morehead Drive and Richard Street was closed for approximately two hours while deputies and emergency responders attended to the victims and investigated the scene. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor, however the crash remains under investigation by the Dane County Sheriff’s Office.
