Thursday Morning Wisconsin News Headlines

Posted Thursday, November 1, 2012 --- 7:40 a.m.

Here is the latest Wisconsin news from The Associated Press:

ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (AP) -- President Barack Obama will campaign today near Green Bay while former President Bill Clinton will try to rally support for Obama in Waukesha. Meanwhile, Republican challenger Mitt Romney plans to campaign tomorrow near Milwaukee.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) -- Native American communities across the country are working hard to tap their 3 million voters, hoping to turn around low voter participation that's persisted for decades. In Wisconsin, tribes are reaching out to young adults with a Rock the Vote event.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Starting today, it's illegal for young drivers to use a cellphone when they're behind the wheel. The rule bars anyone operating a motor vehicle under an instruction permit or a probationary license from using a cellphone or other wireless communications device except to report an emergency.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin consumer advocates say residents who want to donate money to relief efforts after Superstorm Sandy should be on the lookout for scams. The state Bureau of Consumer Protection says people should only donate to established, reputable organizations and verify that a charity is legitimate before sending money.
