Thursday Morning Wisconsin News Headlines

Posted Thursday, July 12, 2012 --- 7:35 a.m.

Here is the latest Wisconsin news from The Associated Press:

RIVER FALLS, Wis. (AP) -- About 300 people went to last night's memorial vigil to remember three young sisters who were found dead in their River Falls home. Homicide charges could be filed against the girl's father today.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu will tour a Milwaukee wind turbine manufacturer today along with a biomass research center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. During his visit, Chu is set to discuss extended clean energy tax credits.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin still leads the nation in the production of mink pelts. The state produced 1.1 million mink pelts last year, up 19 percent. That accounts for about a third of all the pelts in the country.

RHINELANDER, Wis. (AP) -- A mystical fanged reptilian beast from Rhinelander is making its debut on television next month. The Hodag will be featured in an episode of "Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated" on the Cartoon network. The mysterious creature was "discovered" in 1893 by a Wisconsin logger and prankster who said it ate dogs.
