Tim's Travels: Warsaw Wrestlers

A couple of local wrestlers are heading overseas! They've been invited to participate in an international competition in Poland! And the boys can't wait to show the world what they are made of.

For 13-year-old Cody Suddeth and 11-year-old Hunter Lewis wrestling is life.

“I train four nights at two clubs and I have a one-on-one private lesson with a coach,” said Hunter.

That's why they are taking their talent from Stoughton all the way to Warsaw, Poland.

“When the boys found out I think they were both really excited, it was a great honor,” said Jared Lewis, Hunters dad. “And I think one of the first questions was where's Poland?” he laughed.

Jared is going along on the trip. He says not only are they talented, they're also dedicated.

“Both boys are top notch,” he said. “Both the boys do train four to five days a week. They also travel competing in different national events and they also both train year round,”

The boys are members the Ringers Wrestling organization out of Milwaukee. Hunter will represent ringers in the 77 pound weight class. Cody will wrestle at 92 and a half pounds.

“It's a great honor for the boys families and the community here in Stoughton to have a couple kids, not only represent our city, but the United States in a world competition,” said Jared.

“The similarities is that they have a passion for the sport,”

Bob Empey teaches the boys in middle school. Empey is looking forward to the boys eventually bringing their international experience to the varsity squad.

“Those experiences, what they do over there you bring back and it helps move your program ahead quickly,” said Empey.

Hunter is excited for the trip...but not the 12 hour transatlantic flight.

“I'm a little nervous, I've never been out of this country and it's gonna be different,” he said. “Kinda bummed out about the flight, it's a little long,”

Cody can't wait to travel.

“A lot of my friends are basketball players so and they're jealous because they don't get to travel around anywhere,”

And they both have a message for the competition.

“I'm going to win it!” Hunter said confidently.

“Watch out!” Cody said to the camera.

The 8th Annual Mazovia Cup will be held on April 11th in Warsaw, Poland. The boys need to each raise $2,500 dollars before April 1st to pay for their travel. If you'd like to donate, visit http://www.gofundme.com/CodySuddeth
