Husband, Wife Killed In Richland County Crash

From the Richland County Sheriff's Department:

Richland County Sheriff's deputies continue to investigate a Friday afternoon traffic crash that claimed the life of two rural Richland County residents. A 70 year old husband and a 57 year old wife were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on State Highway 80 at County Trunk Highway AA about 2 miles north of Richland Center.

According to Richland County Sheriff Darrell Berglin sheriff's dispatchers were alerted at 4:10pm that a white truck had struck an automobile head-on with one vehicle landing on its top. According to the sheriff Richland County EMS and Richland Center Fire Department personnel and equipment were sent to the scene to assist deputies. A Med Flight helicopter from University Hospital in Madison was also requested to assist at the scene.

Berglin also said that Lonnie L. Kreeger, 63, of Richland Center was injured in the crash and was transported from the scene to the Richland Hospital by Richland County Ambulance. Stephen H. Rowland and his wife Nina M. Rowland of the Town of Orion were pronounced dead at the scene by Richland County Coroner Mary Turner.

The sheriff said that a Wisconsin State Patrol accident reconstruction team was also requested to respond to the scene to assist with the investigation of the crash.

The sheriff said that alcohol was not a factor in the crash and that deputies continue to review evidence and conduct interview regarding the incident.
