MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The U.S. Department of Agriculture has approved a natural disaster declaration for Pierce County in western Wisconsin after last month's storms.
Gov. Scott Walker announced the USDA approval Thursday.
Walker says the designation means farmers will have access to the help they need.
Pierce County and seven counties in Minnesota sustained extensive hail damage on Aug. 6. The designation means farmers will be eligible for Farm Service Agency assistance, including emergency loans.
