US Rep. Ron Kind Applauds Dems for Recall Efforts

Posted: Friday, June 8, 2012 --- 7:32p.m.

APPLETON, Wis. (AP) -- U.S. Rep. Ron Kind says Wisconsin Democrats should be proud of their efforts to force recall elections, even if Republicans ended up with major victories.

The Democratic congressman was a guest speaker Friday at the Wisconsin Democratic Party's convention in Appleton.

He acknowledged that attendees are still discouraged about Tuesday's recall results, in which Gov. Scott Walker and four other Republicans survived recalls. But Kind told attendees, "It's never the wrong time to do the right thing."

He says after talking to voters, he's convinced that Democrats lost only because people felt this wasn't an appropriate use of the recall process. But he says things will turn around in November.

Kind says Democrats should take a short break to recharge their batteries, but come back ready to continue the fight.

An applause? Feel proud? The recall process cost WI at least $125M. This was money that could have and should have been spent on other worthwhile programs. Moreover, the recall process was misused -- not in the legal sense -- but under the principles of fairness because Walker did nothing to justify a recall (ie, if you don't like the policies, take action in the next election). All dems/liberals/progressive should be ashamed of the harm caused to WI. I hope voters will vote this nut-job out of office.

What does Kind mean, is it Democrats' will fight to return WI to a corrupt process involving unions and politicians? That is, union dues to candidates that support their agenda with tax payers as backstops for the huge bill. Even more damaging would be restictive work rules and union veto power over initiatives to improve our educational system.

Maybe he would like to pay for it. Or maybe next time, do some work and do it right.
