MADISON--The company plans to close 115 locations around the country. On the Madison campus's Facebook page, in a letter to students, it says that the Madison campus is "scheduled to be consolidated with another nearby educational facility."
The company says an overwhelming majority of its students are completing degrees online. Still, current students who want classroom learning will have that option until they graduate--but new students will not. So it'll be more of a phasing-out process.
The company did send us this statement, via e-mail (from Mark Brenner, Senior Vice President, Communications and External Affairs, Apollo Group): “The overwhelming majority of University of Phoenix students across the country and in Wisconsin are completing degrees online. That said, every student who currently attends University of Phoenix at our Madison campus will have the opportunity to complete their degree at this current location or a nearby location to be approved through the Wisconsin Educational Approval Board and our regional accreditor, The Higher Learning Commission. We are currently working with students to align their course schedules with where they choose to receive instruction and complete their coursework. Students can also call our toll free student hotline at (866) 992-3302 for additional information.”
