A Verona teen battling cancer gets a big surprise this weekend, thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and generous members of her community.
Ebony Nettles-Bey is a star basketball player on the Verona High School girls' varsity team, despite the fact she's been undergoing chemotherapy and radiation all season.
Ebony can't wish away cancer, or wish her way to the state championship game, but Sunday, her wish to go on a shopping spree came true. She was given $3,000 to spend on shoes and clothes.
At a surprise party in her honor Sunday, Ebony got to meet the strangers who sponsored her wish, Chris And Stacie Tierney.
"Ebony's story overall, is something I don't get it, it's impossible to think about. So if we can ease just a little bit of it to some degree for her, it's our pleasure," Chris said.
"It inspires me to beat it more because there are people watching me and looking up to me," Ebony told NBC 15 last month.
