Walker's Income Tax Cut Helps Rich More

Posted: Friday, February 22, 2013 -- 9:18 a.m.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Gov. Scott Walker's proposed income tax cut would give more money back to the rich than it would the poor, despite his billing it as targeting the middle class.

The Wisconsin State Journal reports Friday that the tax cut would save a family of four earning less than $21,000 just $2 a year. Those making $80,000 would save $106 a year while those earning $374,000 or more a year would save $285 annually.

That's according to an analysis by the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy done for the Wisconsin Budget Project.

University of Wisconsin-Madison economics professor Andrew Reschovsky says there is no evidence Walker's proposed income tax cut will do much to encourage job growth and job creation.

To WIBadger: The "poor" do pay their fair share...isn't income tax based on income? Do you propose a family of 4 making $30,000.00 pay the same amount of tax as a family of 4 that makes $100,000.00? It is all relative. And to save a family $2 is hardly a tax break. I am not some bleeding heart liberal but some people just don't make a lot of money...that doesn't mean that they are less valuable as humans however, unless that is how you judge people's worth. I am not talking about the slackers that falsely cry disability or spend what money they do have on drugs, alcohol, etc...I am talking about families where 1 or both parents work full time and are trying their best. And who really determines what is "fair?" My mom always told me life isn't fair...yet as I sit in my warm home knowing my family's income is over six figures, I feel blessed and thankful. You might want to try some gratitude. Works wonders for the poor me syndrome.

WIBadger you write The RICH have paid MORE than their fair share. Not likely with all their loopholes etc.. Besides he annouced this as something to help the "Middle class" Lets call it what it is "More tax cuts for the Rich"... He wouldn't have been able to "SELL it" if he was honest about WHO he really works for.. Also I hope you never find yourself in need... your comments lead me to believe you think people who are poor are slackers and want "Stuff" to quote many FOX talking heads...

Lies, Lies, Lies and more lies just keep spewing out of the governor's office.

And what's unfair about that? The rich have paid more than their fair share, so they should get more back. The poor have NOT paid their fair share, so they should get less back.
