UPDATE: Walworth County deputies find body of Elkhorn man

UPDATED Tuesday, August 19, 2014 --- 5:56 p.m.

From Walworth County Sheriff's Office:

On Sunday, August 17th, approximately 3:30pm, The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a hiker in the Kettle Moraine Forest. The caller had found a deceased man off of the Yellow Trail. The hiker had parked his car in the gravel parking lot on Esterly Road.
The body was found in a heavily wooded area well off of the marked trail.

We are awaiting dental records to make a positive identification on the subject. However, personal items at the scene lead investigators to believe that this is the body of Mr. Russ Delorme of Elkhorn, WI. An autopsy was performed on Monday and the cause of death is believed to be a self-inflicted gun shot wound.

He was reported missing on August 01, 2014. Prior to this discovery, the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office conducted eight separate searches involving persons on foot, horseback, and ATVs.

This is an open, ongoing investigation. No additional information is being released at this time.
