UPDATE: Wausau Police Squad Hits Pedestrian

UPDATED Wednesday, October 31, 2012 --- 12:11 a.m.

WAUSAU, Wis. (AP) -- Authorities say an elderly man is hospitalized in critical condition after he was struck by a police squad in Wausau.

Investigators say the 89-year-old man was walking in a lane of traffic when he was hit Tuesday about 10 p.m. WSAW-TV says squad video shows the car was going 24 mph when the man was struck.

Officials say the man was dressed in dark clothing.

The officer driving the squad was not injured.

WAUSAU, Wis. (AP) -- Sheriff's investigators say a pedestrian has been hit by a police squad car in Wausau.

The Marathon County Sheriff's Department says the pedestrian was struck late Tuesday evening near the Days Inn in Wausau. The person was taken to Aspirus Wausau Hospital with unknown injuries.

WSAW-TV (http://tinyurl.com/8w587vz ) reports the officer involved in the crash was not injured.
