MADISON--Madison Mayor Paul Soglin told us that a typical winter snowstorm usually runs about $150,000.

For this one though, they're expecting that price tag to triple--to around $450,000. "We may well have a record number of pieces of equipment out there to match the fact that this may be the most expensive storm in the city's history," said Mayor Soglin. "We've only had two other storms that are even close to this. One was December 3rd, 4th, 1990 and then there was the great ice storm back in the 1970s."

The mayor said crews started laying down liquid brine on Tuesday in preparation for this storm.
He said they sent 60 pieces of equipment out on the roads last night.
That includes things like plows and end-loaders.
That number was bumped to 80 this morning--and hit around 175 by mid morning.
