VIDEO REPORT: Lower than Expected Waves in Pleasant Prairie

UPDATED Tuesday, October 30, 2012 --- 2:16 p.m.

Press Release from Kenosha County Sheriff's Department:

The Village of Pleasant Prairie is changing their evacuation advisory from 95th St south to the Wisconsin/Illinois state line East of 3rd Ave to a flood advisory from 110th St south to the Wisconsin/Illinois state line East of 2nd Ave. This change is due to lower than expected waves along the shoreline to this point. Sullivan weather has updated their forecast calling for waves of 4 to 8 feet along shore this afternoon and gradually diminishing on Wednesday.

Approximately 3000 sand bags have been filled and distributed. More sand bags are still being filled in case they are needed. No flooding or property damage has been reported at this time.

VILLAGE OF PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. (AP) -- A lakeshore village in southeastern Wisconsin is urging some residents to evacuate because of potential flooding caused by Superstorm Sandy.

The voluntary evacuation area covers about 265 homes near Lake Michigan. Village Administrator Mike Pollocoff said Tuesday morning sandbagging in flood-prone areas continued through the night. Pollocoff says he hasn't been notified of any evacuations so far. The village advised residents in the affected area to leave by 8 a.m.
