FOND DU LAC, Wis. (AP) -- Authorities are holding an Oshkosh man after he allegedly fled a state trooper with a baby in his car.
The Wisconsin State Patrol says Winnebago County authorities were trying to find a 10-month-old who'd been taken by a non-custodial parent. The trooper spotted the suspect's car shortly before 8 p.m. Saturday. The pursuit reached 90 mph before the trooper broke it off.
But the trooper kept the SUV in sight when it came to a railroad crossing with the gates down and a moving train. The patrol says the driver allegedly went through one gate and turned parallel with the tracks and train before getting stuck in the ditch. He allegedly ignored about 30 minutes of commands to get out before he exited with the baby.
There were no injuries.
