MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The Madison Fire Department says an apartment building was evacuated following what was likely a suicide attempt that involved chemicals.
The Dane County 911 Center says police and firefighters were called to an apartment building for an attempted suicide Sunday night.
A fire department spokeswoman says one person was taken to Meriter Hospital. She says the person's condition is unknown.
The spokeswoman says authorities evacuated the eight-unit building after finding chemicals inside. She says she doesn't know how many people were in the building but everyone got out safely. She didn't specify which chemicals were found.
Police cornered off the city block Sunday night while the fire department's hazardous materials unit worked.
