UPDATE: Wisconsin Primary Turnout 25%

UPDATED Wednesday, April 4, 2012 --- 1:15 p.m.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Turnout in Wisconsin's presidential primary election was nearly 25 percent, falling short of predictions it would be 35 percent.

With 100 percent of precincts reporting Wednesday, just over 1 million people voted in the presidential primary. That was the only race statewide, although President Barack Obama had no opposition.

About 785,000 people voted on the Republican side and about 298,000 voted on the Democratic side.

That equates to about 24.9 percent of the state's 4.3 million eligible voters.

The Government Accountability Board had predicted 35 percent turnout, the same as it was in the 2008 presidential primary when Obama and Hillary Clinton were battling it out. The board also factored in high interest in numerous local elections around the state.

Pitiful...shows how uninformed people are. With all of the publicity of the upcoming elections in May and June, most people didn't even know there was an election yesterday.

I think this shows people are not very excited about the candidates they have to pick from.....
