The Rock County Sheriff's Office says a 65-year-old woman is dead after being trapped under a riding lawnmower.

Janesville Fire and EMS was dispatched to the area of N. Polzin Rd. and W. Fenrick Rd. shortly after 3 p.m. today, according to a news release by Sgt. Troy Egger.

Deputies say the woman was partially trapped under a small riding lawnmower that was upside down.

The woman was not breathing and did not have a pulse.

She was transported to Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center, where she was pronounced dead.

The initial investigation indicates the woman was mowing near her driveway, which had a "small culvert".

It appears she drove too close to that culvert and tipped over.

A witness was able to use her vehicle to pull the mower off of the woman, but it appears the mower had already been pinning her for 15-20 minutes.
