Fitzgerald to Challenge Thousands of Signatures

Posted Tuesday, February 7, 2012 --- 3:06 p.m.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Republican Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald says he plans on challenging enough signatures on recall petitions to stop any election.

Fitzgerald said Tuesday he will also make a number of other challenges, including arguing that newly drawn legislative boundaries should have been in play for the collection of the signatures.

Thursday is the deadline for Fitzgerald and three other incumbent Republican senators to file challenges to the recall petitions.

Organizers collected about 20,600 signatures to recall Fitzgerald. They needed 16,742.

A spokesman for Senate Republicans would not say what challenges would be filed by the other senators. Fitzgerald says he doesn't know how many signatures they will contest.

The other targeted senators are Pam Galloway of Wausau, Van Wanggaard of Racine and Terry Moulton of Chippewa Falls.

The conservatives will be showing their support once again at the polls. Liberals care little about real facts; only pushing an agenda. Liberals make noise, conervatives make answers.

Take it like a man Fitzy...How could the new redistricting maps be in place if they are on super secret double probation and no one knows about them? What a tool...

Where are all the repubs? Why are they not in the press and on TV backing walker, fitz and the others up for recall?

Poor old Fitz. Just don't seem to like it when the shoe is on the other foot. Maybe we will want some one who listens to his constituants to replace you. Remember who you work for? Yes that's right. It includes those that signed your recall petition. Time for you to pack your bags and get outta town!

Senator Fitzgerald couldn't listen to my concerns as his constituent all of last year. I guess I have gotten his attention now.
