Green County authorities are searching for an 11-year old boy reported missing Monday morning.

Austin Skogen is 5-feet tall with a stocky build and has short blond hair.

According to police, the boy's mother, Melissa Skogen, says Austin was found sleep walking at around 4am, at his home about six miles north of Monroe.

When the boy's father left for work Monday morning the boy was gone and an ATV was missing on the property.

Austin may be wearing jeans and a sweatshirt and is believed to be on a red and gray colored ATV.

The Monticello Fire Department, along with the DNR Warden, area ATV club members, neighbors and a Wisconsin State Patrol airplane are assisting in the search.

I'm so glad Austin was found safe and well. But, as the grandmother stated, she didn't care why he left and he doesn't need to be scolded. That's not the point. Sleepwalking can be serious and dangerous. I hope the family takes precautions so this can't happen again.

I believe that Amber Alerts are only made if they believe that the child was abducted. From www.amberalert.gov AMBER Alerts are issued for abducted children when the situation meets the AMBER Alert criteria. When a child is missing, law enforcement can act swiftly to help recover the child, by developing search and rescue teams or by bringing dogs to the scene to track the scent. AMBER Alert is only one tool that law enforcement can use to find abducted children. AMBER Alerts should be reserved for those cases that meet the AMBER criteria. Overuse of AMBER Alert could result in the public becoming desensitized to Alerts when they are issued.
