On 02-24-09 at 3:52 PM, deputies from the Rock Sheriff’s Office along with the Wisconsin State Patrol and Orfordville Police and Fire Department, responded to a two-vehicle injury traffic crash on W. STH 11 .2 of a mile east of S. Potter Rd in Spring Valley Township.
Law enforcement and EMS arrived on scene at 3:56 PM and found a 2006 Ford F-150, driven by 75-year-old Frank C. McIntyre of Beloit, in the south ditch line of W STH 11. There was a white trailer sitting in the middle of W STH 11 and a 1994 Chevrolet Heavy Duty bucket truck, driven by 29 year-old Austin R. Hauser of Orfordville, parked on the north shoulder of W STH 11.
Investigation of the traffic crash showed the Ford pick-up truck, being driven by McIntyre, was eastbound on W STH 11. Hauser was westbound, driving the heavy duty Chevrolet truck pulling a trailer loaded with a Bobcat. The trailer began to sway back and forth crossing over the centerline colliding with McIntyre’s Ford truck. McIntyre’s truck ended up in the south ditch line of W STH 11 while the trailer broke free from Hauser’s bucket truck stopping in the middle of W STH 11. Hauser pulled his truck to the north side of W STH 11.
Orfordville Fire extricated McIntyre from the Ford pickup truck and transported him to Janesville’s Mercy Hospital. McIntyre was pronounced dead by Rock County Corner Jennifer Keach at 6:20 PM. Both subjects were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Speed and alcohol were not suspected as contributing factors, however the crash is still under investigation. At the time of this release no charges or citations were issued. Further press releases will be made available when the investigation is complete.
