WAUKESHA, Wis. (AP) -- The 83-year-old southeastern Wisconsin dairy processor that abruptly closed this weekend is filing for bankruptcy protection and plans to liquidate. The CEO of the private equity firm that owns Golden Guernsey says pressure to lower prices, as well as operating costs, led to the decision to shut the Waukesha plant. About 100 people lost their jobs and schools scrambled to find new milk suppliers.
MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Students from two Milwaukee high schools are in Miami to participate in a national arts program. The two were among 150 people selected to attend YoungArts week. They were chosen from about 10,000 applicants.
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- A group of animal lovers say they'll hold a memorial service on Friday for the 117 wolves killed by Wisconsin hunters this fall. Representatives from the Alliance for Animals say the service in Madison will be held in front of the state Department of Natural Resources. It was the state's first organized wolf hunt.
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin anglers will get a chance to fish for free later this month. The state Department of Natural Resources will have its first free fishing weekend on January 19th and 20th.
