Viewer Question:
"E-mails are an issue for many people. We get so many and don't want to take the time from our lives to read or respond to them all. Computers require increased electricity useage and take our personal energy away from things we could be doing. Many of us are turning into Computer Donuts--look at our hips (adding to Holiday eating dilemmas, as well). Any ideas on Computer "Consumption"?"
Ah, computers, the suck us in, don't they? You sit down to email your sister about your weekend plans and 2 hours later, you look up and you've wasted your morning!
Reframe What the Computer Means to You
For many of us, it's time to reframe the computer in different terms. It's not a necessity. It's not our chief form of communication. It is a tool. Arrange your day according to your values
Last time, we talked about finding a job that allows you to express your values and how much happier people are when they're aligned with those values. The same is true of every day of your life.

4. No "crucial conversations"!
5. Avoid "time vampires" who drain your energy and time.
6. Limit computer time.
Wrap up
Get honest about how you spend your time. Take charge of your time and your schedule. Make conscious decisions on how to spend your time. Avoid activities and people that suck your time and energy away. Schedule time for "maintenance" type activities first and get them out of the way.
