I hope people are keeping an eye on Craigslist. because the person that let the dog out put an add up, saying that he just let the dog out and run free.

Only in Madison are people so far out of reality that they would blame the owner.

I am a dog owner, and never would I make a trip to the DMV and bring my dog....even if the weather is ok enough that he would be ok inside the vehicle. A trip to the DMV is never just an in and out thing. A puppy is like a child, and I am sure you wouldnt leave your child in the car while you ran into the DMV? As sad as it is that people steal, it is almost deserving to someone who can lock a dog in a car knowing you're somewhere that isn't just a quick errand.

If you check the Lost Dogs Of WI facebook page, you will see that there has been another dog stolen from a vehicle at the Sun Prairie Mounds Pet Food Warehouse Store on 4-11-12. Female Husky and she is pregnant. It is very important to remember that this is a very big issue that is happening everywhere due to the economy. Selling puppies is a big income maker! A vicious circle that continues to hurt us all.

Really people. You are blaming the owner. it was 53 outside yesterday, not 100. The dog was plenty safe in his car. Focus on the scum that would steal a persons pet. I hope they find his dog and the person who stole him, and for once punish the person for real. not a slap on the wrist for crimes against animals. They can't defend themselves and the the time for crimes against them should be higher.

There have been days lately when it's been cool enough for your pet to be in the car. Dogs enjoy car rides. I see nothing wrong with him taking his dog with him. Besides, he said his window was cracked. I do beleive someone had to have seen something though while the theif was trying to get the door unlocked. I pray for the puppy's safe return home.

Where do people get the idea that leaving a dog in a car when heat is NOT a factor is a bad thing? Shaming this dog owner for taking his dog with him through out the day instead of leaving his dog in a crate all day long is ridiculous. There is no harm in having a dog in a car for an hour if heat is not a factor. The real issue here is that someone STOLE the puppy. It's not the owner's fault.

I have 2 dogs myself and they would rather ride along with me and wait in the car while I run errands than be left home alone all day. Have some sympathy for the guy!

That's just silly. If the weather is not too hot or too cold and your dog likes the car (and lots of dogs do), there's nothing wrong with leaving him in the car for a little while. From the dog's point of view (and I know such a dog), what's cruel is to leave him at HOME when he might go for a lovely ride in the CAR instead.

I'm sure he loves that puppy, but it is very irresponsible to leave a dog, let alone a puppy, in a vehicle while you're going to the DMV of all places. It's a very big possibility the thief thought the same thing. I personally do not think that dog owner deserves the puppy back, but that's just my opinion.

Why don't people read the article. The dog was LOCKED INSIDE the car, not outside by itself. Someone intentionally broke into the car and stole the puppy. What is this world coming to? Now we are stealing animals. Hope they find the person that did this and the gentleman gets his dog back.

The dog was in the car. A dog sitting by itself for a while isn't going to hurt him. The dog wasn't harming anyone in a car nor was the dog in danger at any time.

It wasn't hot out and the windows were open for some circulation. The vehicle wouldn't have reached uncomfortable temperatures that day.
