SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Madison Bumgarner shut down Milwaukee for seven innings and added an RBI double to help the San Francisco Giants defeat the Brewers 5-2 on Saturday. The Brewers got NL MVP Ryan Braun back in the lineup in the Bay Area after he missed Friday's series opener with a sore right Achilles. Braun hit a solo homer in the eighth inning.
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Alex Gonzalez left Saturday's loss at the San Francisco Giants after injuring his right leg on a steal attempt in the second inning. Gonzalez's right leg buckled as he slid in safely at second base. He immediately called for the trainer and had to be helped off the field.
TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Arizona State's Trent Lockett says he will transfer to Marquette for his senior season to be closer to his mother, who has been diagnosed with cancer. Lockett, whose mother lives in Minnesota, already has earned a bachelor's degree in business communication from Arizona State.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Madison police say Wisconsin running back Montee Ball has been ticketed for trespassing during the annual Mifflin Street block party. Police spokesman Joel DeSpain says Ball was on the porch of home Saturday and a resident didn't want him there. DeSpain says Ball was cooperative, and alcohol wasn't an issue. The junior was given a $429 ticket.
