Here is the latest Wisconsin sports news from The Associated Press:
MILWAUKEE (AP) — It was a historic night at Miller Park, albeit it was an Arizona Diamondback making the history. Aaron Hill hit for his second cycle in just 12 days. Brooklyn's Babe Herman is the only other major leaguer to hit for two cycles in one season since 1900, according to STATS LLC. He accomplished the feat in 1931.
MILWAUKEE (AP) —While Aaron Hill was the hitting in Arizona's 9-3 win over the Milwaukee Brewers last night, the Diamondbacks also got a great pitching performance. Ian Kennedy allowed a run in the first, then kept Milwaukee off the board until the sixth when he gave up two unearned runs. Hill hit for the cycle to lead the Arizona offense. He tripled in the sixth off Livan Hernandez to complete it.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Timberwolves are confident Robbie Hummel has recovered from two major knee injuries. The Purdue forward was taken by Minnesota with the 58th pick in the draft on Thursday. Hummel says he has been going to Minnesota for years with his family. He calls joining the team a dream come true.
DETROIT (AP) — Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz will be staying beyond his contract, though the team isn't saying just how long. He signed a multiyear contract extension yesterday. Schwartz had one season left on his deal. Detroit reached the playoffs last year, just three years after coming off the NFL's first 0-16 season.
