MILWAUKEE (AP) — Ryan Braun homered twice and Cody Ransom added a three-run homer to lead the Milwaukee Brewers to a 10-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks Saturday. The reigning NL MVP's two home runs gave Braun the National League lead with 22 for the season. Carlos Gomez also hit a home run as the Brewers had 13 hits and scored the most runs since May 20th when they beat Minnesota 16-4.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Joe Mauer homered, rookie Cole De Vries pitched six strong innings and the Minnesota Twins beat the Kansas City Royals 5-1 Saturday. Josh Willingham and Chris Parmelee also homered to help the Twins sweep a day-night doubleheader. They've finished June with a 14-13 record for their first winning month in almost a year. The Twins took the opener 7-2 as Scott Diamond pitched eight solid innings yesterday.
CHICAGO (AP) — Anthony Rizzo hit his first homer with the Cubs, a two-run go-ahead shot in the fifth inning, and Chicago beat the Houston Astros 3-2 Saturday. Matt Garza struggled but got the victory by working five and one third innings at Wrigley Field.
SPARTA, Ky. (AP) — Denny Hamlin has signed a contract extension with NASCAR's Joe Gibbs Racing. Hamlin's contract was not due to expire until after the 2013 season. He announced the extension on Twitter prior to last night's race at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta. On the track, Brad Keselowski raced to his third win of the year. Hamlin finished in third place.
