ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (AP) -- A police officer accused of handcuffing his wife after an argument is charged with a felony in Brown County.
Ashwaubenon Officer Thomas Benike faces a charge of false imprisonment and misdemeanor disorderly conduct. A criminal complaint says Benike's wife, Heidi, told authorities her husband accused her of taking his wallet after the two had a disagreement last October. He then handcuffed her and told her she was under arrest for theft.
Heidi Benike filed for divorce in November. The Green Bay Press-Gazette (http://gbpg.net/HgvA4N ) says the Ashwaubenon Police and Fire Commission has scheduled a hearing Friday to address Benike's employment.
