Posted Wednesday, March 3, 2009 --- 10:41 p.m.

We know you've heard "wash your hands" a million times, but an article on has some different ideas. And with all the nasty viruses going around, why not try?

First, be sure not to cover your sneezes and coughs with your hands.

Many of us were taught to "cover up" that way, but it spreads the germs way too quickly.

The advice from experts, use a tissue or use your elbow.

Second, don't touch your face. Spend a day noticing how much you do so, you may be surprised. Even rubbing your eyes can be trouble when the cold and flu viruses are on everything you touched.

Third, try taking a sauna if you can. In one study out of Germany, people who used a sauna twice a week got half as many colds as those who didn't!

Fourth, eat yogurt every day. Some studies show that eating a daily cup of low-fat yogurt can reduce your susceptibility to colds by 25 percent.
